Re-learning and re-wiring decades-worn pathways of thought that keep me stuck in my anti-racism journey requires loads of practice. The Somatic Wisdom for Justice Movements session helped something land for me in the HOW of “sitting in discomfort”. Sticking with and exploring what I was sensing in my body—in real time, together, with Nneka and the others as guides—helped me understand a bit better that my body has valuable information that I can trust and learn from. While my brain swirls, my body knows some stuff—staying, listening to it instead of fleeing (physically or mentally) can loosen the edges of the well-worn paths and open new ways to go.
